The Government of Trinidad and Tobago is moving ahead with Digital Transformation. The citizens are no long satisfied with the “old way” of doing things, and this does not apply to Government alone. Our Minister of Digital Transformation has made it clear that the creation of a digital society is now a priority of the Government. This initiative will also help us in improving the ease of doing business. Currently, we are rated very poorly in this category, as the owner of one digital payment company indicated when he left Trinidad and Tobago to set up his business in another Caribbean island, Jamaica. His reason for leaving our shores and going to Jamaica was simple. Jamaica made it easy for him to set up his business and create systems that would facilitate electronic payments, including online payments.
What can you do to get your business ready for the 4th industrial revolution? Digitize as much as you can, and automate your business processes. Stop using paper as much as is possible, and put systems in place to automate repetitive tasks. The technology is already there and all you have to do is take the next step.
